Montessori is a research-proven innovative model to support older adults living with dementia and/or physical impairments in residential care homes, respite services and day centres as well as the home environment. Montessori and the Prepared Environment supports resident/client choice, fosters belonging and engagement as well as being closely aligned to the new Aged Care Standards, in particular:

This two-day workshop gives an overview of the principles of Montessori and the prepared environment in aged care. Day One discusses the background of Montessori, how and why it works, as well as its application in aged care environments. Day Two focusses on practical application of Montessori principles and the prepared environment.
