Creating Montessori Environments, Melbourne

This two-day programme focuses on creating Montessori Environments, an innovative method of working with older adults living with cognitive and/or physical impairments. Research has provided clear evidence of increased levels of engagement in activities when Montessori environments are created and associated decreases in the behaviours of unmet needs when people are engaged in meaningful activity.

Participants in this workshop will learn about the basic principles of Montessori in aged care and be given practical “hands-on” opportunities to apply the techniques and consider how this philosophy of care can be adopted for their resident/clients and programmes.

The first day of the programme focuses on the facts (knowledge) and the second day focuses on putting the concepts into practice for residents/clients, activities and environments.

Workshop participants will be given the opportunity to complete the Development of Montessori Environments (Course Code 10066NAT) competency assessment. There is an additional fee of $300.00 per person, applicable at the time of submitting assessment tasks associated with this.
